HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER

'How I met your mother' one of america's comedy sitcom, this is about the main character, Ted Mosby in the year 2030 recounts to his son and daughter the events that led to his meeting their mother, which explains the title and allows for a narration in the past tense.
In this scene from 'How I met your mother' its an low tilted angle shot
of the streets of new York outside 'Mclaren bar', the reason why this
camera shot is at this angle is because they want to show what is happening in
an large area. for example, there are umbrellas suggesting that it's raining and the
colour seems to be dull and damp but having an odd colour stand out (yellow umbrella) shows that there is something unique and hopeful about the scene.

  1. Daniel - this is a detailed and accurate analysis of one shot but you should have analysed a variety of shots - XCU, CU, MS, LS, XLS, Low angle, 2 shot, shot-reverse shot etc

You need to start incorporating more media language in your analysis. Comment on the elements of the mise-en-scene; what does this image denote? What does the yellow umbrella connote? etc. Look back at the micro analysis terms we have covered this term.

It may prove useful if you ran 2 blogs - one for personal use and one for media homework!
